The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia is in constant touch with its partners from the European Union and discusses issues related to recognition of the independence of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), recognition of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and other issues. This is what Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Avet Adonts said during today’s discussion on the draft of the 2021 State Budget held as part of the joint session of the Standing Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs and on European Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia.

“The other issues concern sanctions and humanitarian aid which need to address the rather large number of Armenians displaced from Artsakh,” Adonts said.

The deputy minister also stated that many European cities are recognizing Artsakh’s independence which is a major step to ensure further advancement of this issue. According to him, in essence, states are recognizing Artsakh’s independence at the level of local self-governance.
