Russian military helicopters are also involved in the peacekeeping operations for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

Sergey Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, had said Wednesday that 414 Russian peacekeepers and several dozen military vehicles, equipment, as well as eight military helicopters and drones were transported to Nagorno-Karabakh in one day. The total Russian contingent shall consist of 1,960 servicemen with firearms, 90 armored personnel carriers, and 380 units of motor vehicles and special equipment.

"The helicopters will be involved in the conducting of peacekeeping operations—to carry out aerial monitoring—in the areas of overseeing the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone," the respective statement said in particular.

In addition, these helicopters will transport logistics equipment and peacekeeping personnel to hard-to-reach areas.
