YEREVAN. – At Tuesday’s regular session of the National Assembly (NA), Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the opposition Bright Armenia Party and head of its parliamentary faction, asked Lena Nazaryan, deputy speaker of the (NA) and member of its majority My Step faction, whether she believes it is necessary to convene a parliamentary session to debate on the trilateral statement on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

Nazaryan, in his turn, reminded that a meeting of the NA Council was convened Monday, but there was lack of respective quorum. "The absent MPs did not consider it necessary to discuss that issue," Nazaryan added.

In response, Marukyan clarified that the My Step MPs, in fact, did not consider it necessary to discuss, for example, the issue of the corridor to be provided to the Azerbaijanis through Meghri, Armenia. "We had to find out when this overpass will be built, at whose expense, and why they [i.e., Azerbaijanis] were given that road in general. We could, for example, have discussed how our citizens were taken prisoner after the end of hostilities. Maybe that gives us a reason not to leave Karvachar? There are such questions. Do you mean to say that 88 MPs do not want to discuss all these issues?” Edmon Marukyan asked Lena Nazaryan.
