The Azerbaijani atrocities during this [recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war are a result of the state policy of organized anti-Armenianism, are in direct causal connection. We are talking not only about physical atrocities, but also about mental suffering and torture; these are the most serious human rights violations. The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on Sunday wrote this on Facebook.

"Moreover, not so much just the calls for killing Armenians, but the sowing of deep-rooted ethnic hatred are more dangerous.

That is, anti-Armenianism is in a closed chain, it is generated by the Azerbaijani authorities—including by the highest bodies—and then, with almost the same wording, it is widely encouraged by other cultural and public figures and deserves public praise.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities—which Azerbaijan had launched on September 27—in and around Artsakh.
