YEREVAN. - According to official statistical data, external public debt of Armenia for first quarter of 2011 constituted $3,382.6 million, increasing by $402.2 or 13.5 percent in relation to first quarter of previous year.

The external debt of Armenian Government counted more than $ 2,802.4 million, which constitutes 82.8 percent of total public debt. In relation to previous year, Governmental debt increased by $341.9 million or 13.9 percent.

External debt of the Central Bank amounts $ 580.2 million, which constitutes 17.2 percent of overall public dept. In 12 months Central Bank’s debt increased by $60.3 million or 11.6 percent.

The debt for manifold credit programs constitutes 68.9 percent out of overall figure. The World Bank retains its position of largest creditor to Armenia, followed by International Monetary Fund (IMF). Their share of countries external public debt reached 38.6 and 22.5 percent respectively.

The share of bilateral credit programs in external public debt was 31.1 percent less in first quarter of last year. Largest creditors for these programs are Russia, 14.8 percent and Japan 11.0 percent.
