YEREVAN. – Armenia’s state service on food safety plans to hold inspections of food in schools and kindergartens jointly with municipal authorities, head of the service Grigor Grigoryan told journalists on Friday. He noted that there is much work to do in this field.
Grigoryan said that Armenia’s law does not ban importing genetically modified food. Instead of speaking of imports control, we should regulate the laws, he added. The head of food safety service assured import of potentially dangerous Spanish food products is suspended.
“If we discover harmful microorganisms in goods imported from other country, the import will be banned,” he added.
Fatal cases caused by outbreak of E. coli bacteria contained in certain plants were registered in Germany.
