Sweden has taken over the Chairpersonship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and will focus on defending the European security order, addressing protracted conflicts and enhancing democracy and gender equality in the coming year.
With its headquarters and Secretariat in Vienna, the OSCE brings together 7 countries of North America, Europe and Central Asia. On December 4, 2020, German diplomat Helga Schmid was elected the new Secretary General of the OSCE.
