The number of new worldwide COVID-19 cases is dropping for the third consecutive week. This is what Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a briefing in Geneva, TASS reported.

Ghebreyesus added that this is reassuring news showing that the virus can be controlled even in the case of existence of new strains that are currently circulating.

Ghebreyesus went on to say that it is especially important to continue to take precaution and that control over the spread of the virus helps save lives and reduces the possibility of the emergence of new strains of the virus.
