Russia has notified the United States of the procedures for extending the START III treaty - Washington hopes for early completion of the process, the country's ambassador to Russia John Sullivan noted.
According to him, progress continues in the implementation of the steps necessary to extend the treaty.
Earlier, the Kremlin press service reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a document to extend the START III for five years.
