Iranian defense minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that the militarization of the Indian Ocean region is inadmissible, Mehr reported.

Speaking at a meeting of Indian Ocean region defense ministers in Bangalore, India, Hatami called for a reorganization of the world order based on emerging power elements and breaking free from polarization.

According to him, the tragic events of the last decade have proven that the models of hegemonic powers have achieved nothing but violence, extremism, terrorism, assassinations, border disputes, wars, insecurity, and destruction.

The Iranian minister also referred to the illegal and unilateral US withdrawal from international agreements such as the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris deal, saying the big powers can no longer be trusted.

He also warned against attempts by the US and Israel to use terrorism as a tool to expand their influence in the region, expressing Iran's willingness to share its counter-terrorism experience with countries in the region.

Hatami warned against attempts by colonial powers to militarize the region, noting that the security of the Indian Ocean region should be controlled by local forces.
