I made it very clear to President Putin in a manner very different from my predecessor that the days of the United States rolling over in the face of Russian aggressive actions, interfering with our elections, cyberattacks, poisoning its citizens, are over, US President Joe Biden said during his speech at the State Department.

He also called on Russia to release blogger Alexey Navalny, adding: “We will not hesitate to raise the cost on Russia and defend our vital interests and our people, and we will be more effective in dealing with Russia when we work in coalition and coordination with other like minded partners.”

Biden outlined a number of foreign policy initiatives, including a global review of the US military and a cessation of military support for the Saudi-led attack in Yemen.

“America is back, diplomacy is back,” Biden said, adding that his administration would work toward “reclaiming our credibility and moral authority.”

Biden rallied U.S. allies and partners and promised to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with them on a number of shared issues like climate change and the coronavirus pandemic.

“When we strengthen our alliances we amplify our power as well as our ability to disrupt threats before they reach our shores,” Biden said. “America cannot afford to be absent any longer on the world stage,” Biden added.
