Armenia’s Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte, who was escorted by the Military Attaché of the French Embassy (seat in Tbilisi).

Issues related to regional security and cooperation in the defense sector were discussed during the meeting. Armenia’s defense minister also presented the security environment in the region, the existing threats and the expected developments.

In his turn, Ambassador Lacôte stated that the situation during the hostilities and after their cessation has always been in the French government’s focus, and the French government has expressed concerns and is exerting efforts for final stabilization of the situation. Talking about cooperation in the defense sector, the Ambassador informed about the proposal for implementation of several programs targeted at multilateral development of cooperation, and the defense minister approved the proposal.
