During negotiations with the US, Turkey will offer to only partially activate the Russian S-400s. This is what Turkish Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar said, adding that permanent use is not mandatory and that Turkey is using Russian S-300s on Crete Island.

In December, Washington imposed sanctions against Ankara for purchasing S-400s and justified the sanctions by saying that the S-400s pose a threat to F-35 fighter jets and are incompatible with NATO’s defense.

“Turkey is open for negotiations. We have said the negotiations can take place under the auspices of NATO,” Hulusi said, according to Hurriyet Daily.
