The government needs to add funding for science in the 2022 State Budget. This is what deputy of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party Mikayel Melkumyan said during today’s discussion on amendments to the law on higher education and science and the package of bills on making amendments to 22 related laws, addressing Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Vahram Dumanyan. According to Mikayelyan, Armenia needs to take into account the Bayraktars and the other challenges facing the country.

In response, the minister said he fully agrees with the MP and stated that the current funding for science makes up nearly 1% of the state budget, but it would be necessary to increase it up to 4%. “Nevertheless, this is not realistic today. We need to assess the period for doing this and indicate the period in the law,” the minister concluded.
