In response to inquiries from mass media representatives, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia deems it necessary to remind that it had issued the following press release on December 19, 2020:

“1. Pursuant to the reached agreement, Russian border guard troops are being deployed in the Goris-Davit Bek road sector in order to maintain the flow of traffic.

2. Safety in the 21 km-long sector of the Goris-Kapan road passing through he disputed territory will be ensured through Russian border guards.

3. Border guard troops of Armenia from the Armenian side will be deployed on one side of the line of contact, and the border guard troops of Azerbaijan from the Azerbaijani side will be deployed on the other side of the line of contact.

Necessary complex measures will be taken to ensure safety in the mentioned road sector.”

Thus, the border guard services of Armenia and Russia have been deployed in the road sector in order to ensure safety of the movement of citizens, vehicles and cargo transfer within the scope of the abovementioned complex measures.

An agreement to ensure oversight over safety on the aforementioned roads by the border guards of the Russian Federation has been reached between the Ministers of Defense of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
