YEREVAN. – As a former journalist, I am also interested in the latest statement of the NSS; I believe the NSS will provide an additional explanation. But, in fact, the logic of the given statement is based on the "do no harm" principle. Sisak Gabrielyan, a member of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, said this Friday during the traditional briefings of the NA.

To note, the matter is about the recent statement by the National Security Service (NSS) Border Troops, according to which the media must now have a special permit to make reports on the border areas of Syunik Province.

The MP of the ruling bloc noted that certain processes related to the current martial law in Armenia were being carried out in this province, especially in its border areas.

"It must proceed from the interests of the prisoners of war. We must do everything possible not to harm them. Free entry and exit will resume there [to Syunik] at some point. Besides, Armenia is a small country, and it is not that there are no internet, social media here," the lawmaker said, assuring that the NSS was not going to conceal anything from the people.

Gabrielyan also noted that the information provided by the Armenian media is used not only in Armenia, but also abroad. "Probably that is why we need to show some caution," the MP explained, adding that, in fact, no major restrictions were being set.
