Blocking access to popular video-sharing YouTube website will be raised in court due to Turkish nationalists’ sex tapes, following parliamentary elections in Turkey.

Head of the anti-crime information department Yavuz Kocaoglu said that they appealed for YouTube leadership to remove the sex tapes, however received no answer.

“We do not wish YouTube to be closed, but if our requests remain unanswered, we will turn to court to ban YouTube within 2-3 months following June 12 parliamentary elections,” he said.

Turkish authorities blocked YouTube in October 2010. The website was banned after scandalous videos insulting their national leader Kemal Ataturk were reposted.
