The Facebook and Twitter CEOs are in talks with lawmakers in the US House of Representatives to testify at hearings in March, Politico reports, citing sources saddened about the plans.

The main focus of the hearings is still unclear, the media reported.

Facebook discussed the possibility of a speech by its head in front of the House of Representatives committee on energy and commerce, the publication notes, citing two people.

Twitter and its CEO, Jack Dorsey, have discussed the same, Politico writes, citing another source.

According to the publication, the appearance of the Facebook and Twitter CEOs may depend on whether they testify together with the CEO of Google and its parent company Alphabet, Sundar Pichai.

The exact date of testimony has not yet been determined, but it may come as early as March, the report said.

Facebook, Google, and Twitter have not yet responded to Reuters requests for comment.
