French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire on Saturday said far- right opposition leader Marine le Pen may win the presidential elections in 2022, Reuters reported.

“The election of Marine Le Pen , we all know that is a possibility. It is a political possibility and it must be opposed...I hope that Emmanuel Macron runs and is re-elected,”Le Maire told BFM television.

Marine Le Pen, leader of the opposition National Rally Party, ran for President of France in 2017 and was defeated.

According to polls, she will become Macron's main opponent in the next elections.
