Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the Joe Biden administration after the White House made it clear that it was ready to resume diplomatic relations with Tehran on a nuclear deal.

“The ayatollah understands only strength. I led a response to the Iranian threat that protected the American people from its terror and supported the Jewish state of Israel,” Pompeo told the Washington Free Beacon on Thursday. “Adopting the European Union model of accommodation will guarantee Iran a path to a nuclear arsenal.”

Earlier, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the Biden administration will accept an invitation from the High Representative of the European Union to attend the P5 + 1 meeting with Iran to discuss a diplomatic path forward on Iran's nuclear program.
