Delegations from the United Arab Emirates and Qatar have met in Kuwait for the first time since a normalization agreement was signed last month, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt agreed in January to re-establish diplomatic, trade, and tourism ties with Doha, which were severed in 2017 over Qatar's terrorism-supporting accusations, which it denies.
The parties discussed joint mechanisms and procedures for the implementation of the January statement. They noted the importance of developing joint actions in the Persian Gulf in the interests of the Gulf countries, as well as achieving stability and prosperity in the region.
After the conclusion of the agreement between Qatar and the four states, air and tourist services were resumed. Each state should organize bilateral talks with Qatar to resolve specific issues.
A UAE official said after the signing of the agreement that it will take time to restore diplomatic relations as the parties work to restore confidence.
