YEREVAN. – A group of citizens on Friday protested in front of the main building of the government of Armenia.
Mkrtich Vardanyan, one of the demonstrators, told reporters: "We have brought symbolic items that we shall hand over to the capitulator, [PM] Nikol Pashinyan. We want the capitulator to let us in and show [him] what's inside [the bag]. And if that doesn't work, we'll leave the bag with these items here."
He showed what was in the bag, noting that there were items—such as a black paper—which the people had added.
And Karapet Poghosyan, another protester, commented on the significance of these items. "There is a mask on the backpack, which we removed from his [Pashinyan’s] face, and it shows his hypocrisy. There is a balloon in the backpack, which symbolizes his lie, a magic wand, a unified map of 2018, and a photo of his supporter, [Azerbaijani president] Ilham Aliyev," he said.
Subsequently, police asked these citizens to pick up the bag, but then started apprehending them, saying in order to found out their identities.
In this regard, Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia, wrote as follows on Facebook: "They [these protesters] were taken to the Kentron police station to find out who they were, in the case when the guys' passports were with them."
