Governor of Tavush Province of Armenia Hayk Chobanyan met with the demonstrators who had shut down the Yerevan-Noyemberyan interstate road. This is what the regional governor’s spokesperson Lilit Sargsyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The regional governor stated that he is in principle against the shut-down of the strategic roads of Tavush Province. The participants of the meeting asked their questions of concern, and the regional governor answered them. After the meeting, the participants stated that they had received the answers to their questions and there was no atmosphere of lack of confidence,” Sargsyan said.

Today the residents of Ijevan shut down the Yerevan-Noyemberyan interstate road and demanded a meeting with Governor of Tavush Province Hayk Chobanyan to find out about the situation on Armenia’s borders.

“We just want the regional governor’s office to affirm that there is no problem on our borders. There was concern that territories might be transferred to the enemy. By shutting down the road, we are trying to carry out acts of civil disobedience to keep the issue in focus,” one of the demonstrators said.

The demonstrators had opened the road after keeping it closed for nearly an hour.
