Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Onik Gasparyan made a statement that he will continue to serve the homeland with a new status, and this might mean that he is preparing to enter politics. This is what chairman of the council of the opposition National Agenda Party Ara Hakobyan told reporters today.

Hakobyan reiterated the political party’s stance according to which the defeat in the Nagorno-Karabakh war was organized by Armenia’s military and political leadership and that all those who are guilty of the defeat will be held liable after shift of power.

Hakobyan says the fact that the leadership of the General Staff demanding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation greeted Pashinyan by standing up when he visited the Ministry of Defense is nonsensical. He also recalled that there are many facts stating that the political authorities committed state treason and that among the authorities is President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian.

As far as the statements by first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan are concerned, according to the political figure, as always, Ter-Petrosyan is manipulating. “Ter-Petrosyan views the actions for the nation and liberation as actions that contradict the Constitution. In reality, he is content with the results of Nikol Pashinyan’s work. Now Ter-Petrosyan is simply trying to avoid strikes against him. In the future, he will declare that he had also demanded Pashinyan’s resignation,” Hakobyan concluded.
