During a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan said large investments are being made in Armenia, and first and foremost domestic investments, as well as many foreign investments.

Asked which sectors the investments are being made in, the minister said the investments are mainly being made in the IT, agriculture and tourism sectors. If there are so many investments, why aren’t budgetary expenses being cut in other sectors? In response, Kerobyan said the state budget is overloaded due to the difficulties in 2020, taking into consideration the coronavirus and the war.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminded the minister about his previous forecasts and asked if he still believes that Armenia will record two-digit economic growth this year, to which Kerobyan said the following: “Yes, of course. I have stated several times that I rely on the work that is done on a daily basis and the ability to restore the free and corruption-free economy.” Asked if there is no corruption in Armenia since there are many publications about corruption, Kerobyan said even if there is corruption, it’s not systemic. He added that he isn’t aware of those publications.
