At Sunday’s session, the Turkmen parliament decided to ratify the memorandum of understanding between the governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on the joint exploration and development of Dostluq field of hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea, Turkmenportal reports.
The Dostluq field, whose reserves, according to experts, are estimated at 50 million tons of oil, has been disputed over for many years. Earlier, the Turkmen side had called it Serdar, whereas the Azerbaijani side Kapaz, the aforesaid portal added.
On January 21, the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum in Ashgabat on joint exploration and development of the hydrocarbon resources of this mine.
