Kosovo opened its embassy in Jerusalem yesterday following the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries during US-led talks, Reuters reported.

The new embassy is seen as another step towards normalizing ties between Israel and Muslim-majority countries. However, Palestinian representative Wasel Abu Yousef said Kosovo went against UN resolutions.

Jerusalem's status has been the subject of heated debate between Israel and Palestine for decades.

The Trump administration moved the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Senate hearings in January that the Biden administration had no intention of canceling the move.

Shortly after taking office, the Biden administration announced that the United States would re-establish relations with Palestine, which would help both the people of Israel and Palestine.
