Hovhannes Aivazovsky’s painting, found in an old box, was sold at $1.2 million in an auction in Swedish Uppsala city, RIA Novosti reports quoting Uppsala Nya Tidning.

The painting Battle for Bomarsund was dated 1858. It was found in an old box brought by a Swedish man for the workers of the Metropol auction of Stockholm. The man had no idea that the painting will worth quite high. He hoped to get $1,500 for the painting. However, professional expertise discovered sensation.

“This is the most unbelievable incident in my life,” told famous expert of the Uppsala auction house Knut Knutson.
