Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artur Tovmasyann today received independent deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia Anna Grigoryan and Taguhi Tovmasyan.
During the meeting, the parliamentary speaker touched upon the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh and stressed that Turkey won the war, not Azerbaijan. “The 150,000 Armenians of Artsakh fought with Turkey, more than 5,000 terrorist mercenaries were involved, and what is the most appalling is the fact that this took place with the silent consent of the international community,” Tovmasyan said.
According to Tovmasyan, being defeated in the war doesn’t mean being defeated in the negotiations. He also voiced hope that the negotiations will continue through increase of the role of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The deputies of the Parliament of Armenia shared Tovmasyan’s view and considered the OSCE Minsk Group as the only acceptable format for negotiations. They mentioned that the de-occupation of Artsakh is on the agenda and discussed the need to protect the rights of those who were forcefully displaced.
