YEREVAN. - Between 2000 and 2009, 4567 people received academic degree certificates. According to Armenian Ministry of Education and Science strategic plan for 2011-15, 452 of them hold the PhD degree, and other 4075 are candidates of science.
The average age of degree holders involved in state-funded programs is 56, including 52 years old for candidates of science and 66 for Doctoral degree holders. The generation gap is quite remarkable, 27 to 35 years old people make 15 percent of the degree holders, 36-50 years olds make 16 percent, while those older than 60 years constitute 47 percent of all degree holders.
