YEREVAN. – In the case of any form of government, counterbalance and containment mechanisms must function clearly; if they do not exist, any form of government is failed. Independent MP Gor Gevorgyan on Wednesday stated this to Armenian News-NEWS.am at the National Assembly of Armenia.

"When speaking about selecting a form of government, the existing political, economic traditions within the given country, the mentality of the society, the role it plays in the region, relations with neighbors should be taken as a basis. The events in recent times show that the parliamentary form of government does not work in Armenia, and the [latter’s] parliament is unable be a priority political tribune at all," Gevorgyan said.

"In our case, we have a parliamentary form of government, but the super-prime ministerial form of government is predominant over parliamentarism," he added.
