My two statements about the Su-30SM fighter jets purchased from Russia don’t contradict each other. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said in response to deputies’ questions in parliament today.
“First, let us record the fact that Su-30SM is a super modern and powerful weapon, but if it is used as a whole,” he said.
According to Pashinyan, the fighter jet was purchased from different entities, not through a package deal.
“The jets arrived in Armenia in May 2020, and during the military exercises, they were used through the application of missiles that were already in the Armenian army’s arsenal,” Pashinyan said.
Earlier, during a meeting with villagers of Ohanavan in Aragatsotn Province, Pashinyan had declared that Armenia has purchased Su-30SM fighter jets from Russia without missiles. But in July 2020, he declared that the fighter jets were used during military exercises, striking targets with “air-land” missiles and had even posted a video.
