YEREVAN.- Armenian expert in ethnography Hranush Kharatyan accused international agencies of supporting genocide, including “cultural” one.
Kharatyan said that the recent scandal at the Paris exhibition put an end to the “efforts” to implement the provisions of the UN Charter in general, and UNESCO in particular.
During the recent photo exhibition dedicated to art of Armenian khachkars (cross stones) quotations indicating the place of origin of each khachkhar had been removed without any justification.
The expert stressed that UNESCO did not take any moves when the Armenian cross-stones and tombstones were actively destroyed in Azerbaijan several years ago, she told journalists on Monday.
Azerbaijani authorities have initiated extermination of the Armenian cross stones and other architectural monuments in the territory of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. An ancient Armenian cemetery was destroyed in 2005-2006.
