During the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, my defense advisors recommended dismissing certain top officials of the Armed Forces of Armenia. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said while presenting the report on the activities of the government in 2020 during today’s parliamentary session, responding to a question from secretary of the opposition Bright Armenia parliamentary faction Gevorg Gorgisyan.
Pashinyan stated that defense advisors Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Arshak Karapetyan (currently Minister of Defense and First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, respectively-ed.) recommended dismissing a few top officials of the Armed Forces while the military operations were in progress. “I refused to do that, but now I think I was wrong,” he added.
