YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) was confident and positive, MP from Heritage Party Larisa Alaverdyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She stressed that the Armenian President’s speech sent new messages. She hailed positive Sargsyan’s statement at PACE that Nagorno-Karabakh is a part of Europe, albeit unrecognized.

“Such statements are hailed positive, it is bad that they do not affect the actual course of policy, in particular do not have an impact on Nagorno-Karabakh’s involvement in the negotiation process,” the MP noted.

However, speaking of Nagorno-Karabakh Serzh Sargsyan should have specified what territories are included in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Alaverdyan emphasized.

In his turn, Head of Heritage parliament group Stepan Safaryan said Armenian President’s policy cannot be labeled as eloquent as his speech at the PACE.

“Armenia’s political response should be entirely different,” he noted. “No positive breakthroughs for the Armenian side are expected in the peace process without Karabakh’s participation in the talks.”
