Presidents of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arranged on the phone call to accelerate construction of the North-South rail road connecting the two states.

The project will give Iran the chance to establish direct rail road to Middle Asia and Kazakhstan, passing by Azerbaijan, Armenian News-NEWS.am informs, quoting press service of the government of Turkmenistan.

Armenia is also interested in the project of Iran-Armenia rail road construction as Armenia will get access to Middle Asia, and at the same time will be a transit country between Asia and Europe.

Asian Development bank and Islamic Development bank made investments in the rail road construction project. Some other countries in the region also showed interest in the project.
