The United States is committed to the task of long-term political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] conflict. Ryan Campbell, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Armenia, on Saturday stated about this in his opening remarks at the First Armenian-American Political Science Forum being held in Armenia.

According to him, the administration of US President Joe Biden notes the importance of security in this region. He added that earlier this week, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan spoke with Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and reaffirmed the US' commitment to the principles of ensuring peace, security, and prosperity. Campbell noted that the US is also deeply committed to the task of a long-term political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, working to this end both bilaterally and under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

US Embassy Chargé d'Affaires noted that last year was difficult in terms of the coronavirus pandemic, but at the same time, it united us and stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership. He added that ever since this outbreak, the US government has provided $11 million to Armenia to fight COVID-19, helping to procure the necessary medical equipment, prepare the system for laboratory research, and assisting technical experts in responding and to be willing to take the necessary measures, as well as to alleviate severe cases.
