YEREVAN. – Information technologies sphere occupies leading position in the economy of Armenia during the last three years, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan told at fourth annual forum of DigiTech Business on Friday.

Armenian PM believes that digitalization resulted increase in productivity in twenty first century and application of IT equipments will increase economy of productivity in Armenia. Especially notable is progress of the Internet. 1.1 million Armenian subscribers used mobile Internet in 2009, 1.3 million in 2010, and already 1.7 million people are mobile internet-users in the first quarter of 2011. Number of traditional Internet subscribers reached 70,000 in 2009, 170,000 in 2010, and 240,000 in 2011.

It is important that increase of subscribers to be accompanied by the decrease of prices, and the process will go on, Sargsyan added.
