As reported the Staff of the President of Armenia, the newly appointed Ambassador said Armenia and Montenegro have traditionally friendly ties and she will make maximum efforts to further strengthen those relations and advance the Armenia-Montenegro agenda.
President Sarkissian congratulated Ambassador Ponorac and conveyed his greetings to President of Montenegro Milo Jukanovic, whose planned official visit to Armenia was postponed due to the coronavirus.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation and indicated tourism and high technology as the primary directions for cooperation for which there is great potential.
President Sarkissian touched upon the challenges facing Armenia in the wake of the war and the urgent humanitarian issues and particularly underscored the need for the speedy return of all Armenian prisoners of war and civilians who are illegally kept and deprived of liberty by Azerbaijan. He also touched upon Azerbaijan’s encroachments on the borders and territorial integrity of Armenia and mentioned that the latter looks forward to more active and addressable response of international partners and the international community to these issues.
