Yerevan doesn’t rule out the fact that it will address the UN Security Council with regard to the incursion of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in the sovereign territory of Armenia, if it suddenly becomes clear that the toolkit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization or the agreement on the joint Armenian-Russian group aren’t enough to solve the situation and the problems that have emerged. This is what acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during today’s question-and-answer session with government officials in parliament.

Once again, Pashinyan emphasized that the aim of the actions taken by Azerbaijan in the territory of Sev Lake was to incite a military conflict and, as President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had announced earlier, to create a corridor through the use of force.

“This is exactly why Armenia addressed the CSTO. Currently, we’re not satisfied with the speed of actions of the CSTO, but we will continue to work with our partners to clarify the situation,” Pashinyan said. He also paid attention to the fact that the member states of the CSTO still haven’t clearly expressed their position on the pullout of Azerbaijani troops from Armenia’s territory.

As for the issue of addressing the UN Security Council, the acting premier stated that the issue has been considered since the very first days of the incursion and is still a matter of discussion.
