The Turkish authorities have issued a new arrest warrant for the mafia member Sedat Peker after his scandalous revelations of the entourage of President Recep Erdogan, AFP reported.

Ankara's General Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for Sedat Peker as he was preparing to release the eighth in a series of YouTube videos, each of which has amassed millions of views.

Anadolu reported that Peker is now also suspected of involvement in the movement of Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for the failed coup against Erdogan in 2016.

Peker's accusations against Erdogan's allies, including the former prime minister, senior officials, and their relatives, range from corruption and drug trafficking to rape and murder.

The videos focus on Interior Minister Suleyman Soil, who Peker claims offered him protection and then informed him of new pending charges, allowing him to flee abroad.

Peker, 49, began recording his videos after police ransacked his home in Turkey in April and mistreated his family. He claims to be living in the United Arab Emirates now.

The political scandal triggered by the video comes at the wrong time for Erdogan, who is losing ground in opinion polls due to currency depreciation and rampant inflation.
