New York lawmakers approved on Friday a bill legalizing same-sex marriages. It is mentioned that New York is the city where the gay rights movement was born.
The bill was put to the vote back in 2009 but was rejected.
To date same-sex marriages are legalized in Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and in the territory of the District of Columbia, Lenta.ru reports.
