The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania is deeply concerned about the current situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“We are concerned about the reports about the border clashes of the armed forces of both countries which endanger the lives of both soldiers and peaceful civilians. We urge both parties to go to de-escalation of the situation and pull out the troops. An agreement on demarcation and delimitation of the border can be reached around the negotiating table, not by concentrating troops on the border.

We continue to closely follow the situation. We believe the steps for de-escalation will contribute to the strengthening of confidence between Armenia and Azerbaijan and a peaceful settlement of the conflict,” the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania reads.
