YEREVAN. – Optimism of co-chairing states of OSCE Minsk group regarding Kazan meeting of Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani presidents was not justified. The optimistic expectations from the negotiations on Karabakh conflict are illusory, as both sides have entirely opposite positions on the issue, secretary of opposition Heritage party Larisa Alaverdyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Alaverdyan believes the mediators’ optimism intended to pressure on both sides to reach an agreement. She stressed that Azerbaijan showed unconstructive behavior, not agreeing with offers prepared by mediators, while Armenia always states its readiness to agree. It is high time for Armenia to set offers and run negotiations for its interests.

Besides, all negotiations without Karabakh participation are useless meetings not leading to the conflict resolution, she added.
