The wording "complete unblocking and uninterrupted operation of communications" is present in all documents of the negotiation process; there was nothing else. Second President Robert Kocharyan, the leader of the "Armenia" bloc that will run in the snap parliamentary elections on June 20, said this during Monday’s meeting in Meghri town, speaking about the demands of Azerbaijan and Turkey in connection with the "Meghri Corridor."

"But since I have been negotiating for a long time, I know very well what they mean. The corridor is not communications. It means one thing: reduction of Armenia's sovereignty and increase of Azerbaijani and Turkish forces and sovereignty.

I am also in favor of opening roads. I’ always ask: And when did we close off the roads? We have not closed off anything; neither roads nor borders. The blockade began in 1988 with the launch of the Karabakh [(Artsakh)] movement. They need a corridor to connect Nakhchivan with Azerbaijan and later with Central Asian countries, and later to ensure exports through Turkey. Turkey considers the issue not only an element of Pan-Turkism, but also of neo-Ottomanism. What should we do? Let's not negotiate over the corridor issue. But since there is such an interest, it is also an opportunity to play a trump card with other players. Use the aikido technique [i.e., use the power of the adversary against him]. The corridor cannot but worry Russia and China. Turkey's behavior worries a number of other countries—France, Egypt, the Arab world. We must try to use the forces uniting against these encroachments," he added.

Also, Kocharyan stressed the need to restore the status of the Armenian army and of Armenia. "We reached the last one from the ‘Premier League;’ everyone considered us to have a combat-ready army. It takes three years to rebuild armaments, one year to rebuild and reform the army and increase the professional component. There is a professional military staff in our team, we are ready to engage additional specialists to rebuild the army. It all depends also on the mood. Nothing works for a depressed person. The same thing is happening with the people and the state," Kocharyan said.

He stated that the Armenian authorities are committing a crime by lying and continuing to lie to the people; moreover, with their own budget money.
