Yesterday third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan declared that acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan should have exchanged his son with the captives being kept in Azerbaijan. First of all, such statements should simply not be made. This is what candidate for Prime Minister, leader of the opposition Bright Armenia Party Edmon Marukyan said during a meeting with voters in Kasakh village today.

“What century are we living in? How can Azerbaijan take someone’s son as a captive in exchange of other captives? Who can picture this? This is fake rhetoric. Nikol Pashinyan is using this rhetoric and declaring that Aliyev can take his son and return the captives. People, who needs this show? What is this in general?” Marukyan said, adding that foreigners who read this news might think that this is a desperate act, others might think that this is a way of feeling sorry, and others might think that this is embarrassing in general.

“Others are following this and thinking how Armenians will fight against the enemy, if they are treating each other this way. Today I read somewhere that allegedly he [Nikol Pashinyan-ed.] has officially sent his son to Aliyev. Do you believe that Aliyev will take the son of the acting premier? This is not allowed. This is a family, they are children. These topics can’t be speculated,” Marukyan said.
