RA President Serzh Sargsyan leaves for Turkish Bursa today on the invitation of President of Turkey Abdullah Gul for the Turkey-Armenia qualifying match within the framework of Europe Cup 2011.

According to NEWS.am sources, Presidents of the two countries will have a tête-à-tête meeting today presumably in Almira Hotel. Later in the day a reception will be held in honor of Armenian gueast where chestnuts in sugar and other viands will be treated to Armenian diplomatic corpse and RA President Serzh Sargsyan.

The first match with Turkish national team was held September 6, 2008 in Yerevan. Armenian team lost 0:2. Although, the Turkish team lost the chance to win ticket to Mundial World Cup in UAE, it will be a serious test for Armenian national team. Turkish team playing at home will try to do its best to make up for the lost round on a positive note. The historic implication is always present at sportive face-offs between the two countries.

The Bursa match is a part of the significant political processes that was termed the “football diplomacy”. President of Turkey Abdullah Gul attended the match in Yerevan on the invitation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. The Turkish leader made a return curtsey by an official invitation to Sargsyan to attend the match in Bursa. However, it is not clear yet, whether RA President will attend the match or not, — as has been basing his decision on the recent developments on Armenia-Turkey normalization and signing of the Protocols.
