The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved through negotiations within the region, said Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

“The OSCE Minsk Group has been holding talks on the Karabakh conflict for many years. What results were achieved? How did they react to this problem? From this viewpoint, we believe that negotiations aimed to resolve such conflicts can be effectively carried out within the region as regional states can better understand each other,” he said in an interview with Azerbaijani Trend agency.

Larijani believes the principle of territorial integrity must be taken into account and the discussions should be held within the region.

As regards the role of Iran and Turkey in resolution of the regional conflicts, Larijani stressed Turkey is a very important country.

“Cooperation between Iran and Turkey in the economic field is at a high level. Turkey also is our brotherly and friendly country, we have sincere and good relations with this country,” he said.

He noted that Iran and Turkey exchange views on regional developments. If Muslim countries unite, they can prevent interference of many countries into regional affairs, as they want to create problems there, he added.

“Cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey is exemplary cooperation in the region. All three countries understand and communicate with each other, cooperating in many areas,” said Iranian Speaker.
