More than 1,000 Afghan soldiers have escaped to neighboring Tajikistan after clashes with Talibs, AFP reported.
“They didn’t want to surrender,” Afghan soldier Abdul Basir said.
The National Security Committee of Tajikistan says 1,037 Afghan soldiers have escaped to Tajikistan ‘to save their lives’.
The Afghan government has promised to launch a counterattack in the north.
“The Afghan troops have lost the fighting spirit,” analyst Ata Nouri from Kabul said.
