YEREVAN. – Leader of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan stated that investigation of tragic events on March 1, 2008 in Yerevan carries imitating character.

“I have an impression that investigation of tragic events on March 1, 2008, in Yerevan again carries imitating character. It is explained by the fact that the President ordered Armenian Investigatory Service to investigate it. The Service aims to falsify facts and hide the crime for already three years,” Ter-Petrosyan stated at the opposition rally in Yerevan.

After Armenian authorities completed the ANC requirements, released political prisoners and ended restrictions on rallies in Liberty Square, opposition will pay attention to disclose of death circumstances of ten victims in the tragic events on March 1, 2008, and punishing those guilty in it.

Ter-Petrosyan emphasized that the opposition does not require disclosure of March 1, namely, the death circumstances of people. According to him, the key to solve the problem is in the recent reports of the PACE co-speakers on Armenia and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, which indicates the need for the announcement of the mechanism which is used by the authorities when giving orders to the military and low enforcement formations.
